What Is A Benefit Statement?

A benefit statement is a one sentence description that tells how a person will benefit from your product. It answers, "What is this product going to do for me?"

Why Do I Need A Benefit Statement?

The benefit statement intrigues someone to find out more and is a tool to start conversations. You can have both a verbal pitch and a written one.

What Else Might I Need To Write Regarding My Product?

In addition to benefit statements, you will also have feature statements, which describe the product itself and the physical makeup of the product. The text on your sell sheet generally contains both benefit and feature statements. Additionally, some products require a data page and/or instructions for use (these are usually a lot more detailed and text heavy) and perhaps product packaging literature if you manufacture it yourself. Depending upon your situation, you might also consider business and marketing literature, such as a website, video script, promotional materials, press releases, blogs, etc.

What Can You Write For Me?

I can write and edit benefit statements, sell sheet copy, data sheets and instructions, business and marketing materials, packaging literature and most everything in a variety of formats. Just ask.

How Do I Work With You As A Writer?

The first step is to contact me, either by phone, email or in-person and let me know what you are looking for, where you are at in your process and your time frame. Even if you only have rough notes, we can use those as a starting point to give me an idea of where you are going.

The next step is for us to determine the best way to work together: Will we be doing our work in person, via the phone and internet or completely by email? Are we co-writing or am I writing this for you? How will you get the information to me? Am I interviewing you and writing it myself? Will you be sending audio clips? Am I editing what you have already written? Once we've determined what we'd like to accomplish, then we'll decide together the best way for us to proceed.

Fees

The fees for my services are $75 per hour, with a one-hour minimum (Determining how we can best work together is no charge. Once we do start working together, your time can be spilt in a variety of ways: For example, we might talk on the phone 20 minutes with me interviewing you, I spend 30 minutes writing and then we spend 10 more on the phone again after I've done the writing. One hour does not have to be consecutive).

A word to the wise – Most people who are not familiar with the process of bringing a product to market typically require 2.5 – 4.5 hours of time initially. Given that a portion of your sell sheet review involves editing the written content, and a sell sheet review is included with the purchase of the Generate Interest In Your Product Ideas course, it usually ends up being more cost effective to purchase the course first, watch the DVD, read the book and learn the process, then do some rough drafts yourself and use me to review what you have done. It will save you time and money in the long-run. Click here to see the course details.
